Fort Campbell soldier dies in training accident

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. — A Fort Campbell soldier was shot and killed during a training exercise on post Tuesday, according to officials.

The soldier, who had not been identified, died at about 10:20 a.m. at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital at Fort Campbell, according to Bob Jenkins, director of public affairs.

The soldier's name will not be released until 24 hours after next of kin is notified.

No other soldiers were injured, and the case is under investigation. The incident happened at one of the post's shooting ranges, Jenkins said.
